  SR7.PMH[\"SR7_2_1\"].state=true;} else if(SR7.PMH[\"SR7_2_1\"].cn-->0)\tsetTimeout( SR7.PMH[\"SR7_2_1\"].fn,19);}};SR7.PMH[\"SR7_2_1\" ].fn();\n\t\t\t\t<\/script>\n\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify\">In Africa la nostra congregazione \u00e8 presente\u00a0in Etiopia nelle citt\u00e0 di\u00a0<strong>Addis Ababa, Harar, Debre Zeit <\/strong>e in<strong>\u00a0Kenya <\/strong>nelle citt\u00e0 di\u00a0<strong>Nairobi, Kangari, Tala, Malindi.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify\">Etiopia<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">La richiesta di mandare alcune suore in Etiopia\u00a0fu avanzata nel 1925 da un missionario maltese, il padre cappuccino <strong>Angelo Mizzi<\/strong>, appartenente alla Provincia cappuccina di Tolosa. <strong>Madre Nazarena Gouder<\/strong>, all\u2019epoca Superiora generale, unitamente al suo Consiglio (di cui faceva parte anche Madre Margherita), dopo le iniziali perplessit\u00e0 e superate le comprensibili esitazioni, accolse favorevolmente la proposta perch\u00e9 offriva una provvidenziale opportunit\u00e0 di dare concreta attuazione alla componente missionaria del carisma congregazionale, da sempre profondamente recepito e ardentemente coltivato.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1982\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1982\" style=\"width: 217px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1982\" src=\"http:\/\/www.franccj.com\/franccj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-217x300.jpg\" alt=\"Abissinia (Ethiopia)\" width=\"217\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-217x300.jpg 217w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-741x1024.jpg 741w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-768x1062.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-1111x1536.jpg 1111w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-304x420.jpg 304w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-696x962.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51-1068x1476.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/www.franccj.org\/fcj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/FOTO-SCELTE-51.jpg 1224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 217px) 100vw, 217px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1982\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Le prime sorelle missionarie<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Le prime cinque suore missionarie partirono per l\u2019Etiopia, (<em>nel passato nota anche con il nome di Abissinia<\/em>), nell\u2019ottobre 1927. <strong>Sr. Rosa Agius, Sr. Aurelia Frendo, Sr. Redenta Xerri, Sr. Virginia Xuereb e Sr. Massimiliana Micallef<\/strong> il 6 novembre, dopo un viaggio avventuroso, raggiunsero casa <em>Maria Assunta<\/em> a Sofi, loro prima destinazione. Qui si misero subito al lavoro: aprirono un orfanotrofio e una scuola e si dedicarono anche all\u2019insegnamento del catechismo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Nel giro di pochi anni, con l\u2019arrivo di altre suore da Malta, furono aperte ancora altre case. Questo progressivo radicamento territoriale fu per\u00f2 ripetutamente funestato da dolorosi e drammatici avvenimenti: una diffusa epidemia di febbre tifoide miet\u00e9 tre giovani vittime tra le suore, una delle quali era la nipote di Madre Margherita. Purtroppo, il 7 agosto 1998 un gruppo di rivoluzionari musulmani fece irruzione nella chiesa e nella residenza dei missionari profanando la chiesa e rovinando ogni cosa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Nel maggio 1999, le suore si ritirarono da Wajir, a causa della precaria ed insicura situazione delle sorelle in quella missione.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Frattanto, nel luglio 1993, era stata aperta a <strong>Nairobi<\/strong>, la capitale del Kenya, la Casa Santa Chiara. Essa \u00e8 destinata primariamente all\u2019accoglienza e alla formazione delle aspiranti; ma le suore sono molto impegnate anche nel campo educativo, sanitario e pastorale della parrocchia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">La comunit\u00e0 di <strong>Nairobi<\/strong>, fin dal 1993, si occupava del centro per bambini <em>San Francesco d\u2019Assisi nei quartieri bassi di Gatina, Kawangware,<\/em> dove la popolazione \u00e8 molto povera; molti bambini non hanno i genitori e vivono con i nonni o per la strada e spesso sono soggetti a varie malattie, a causa della scarsa igiene e della malnutrizione. Adesso questo centro \u00e8 passato nelle mani della Parrocchia e le suore hanno costruito una scuola d\u2019infanzia e primaria, Mother Margherita School, nella stessa zona.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Il 31 dicembre 2009, un gruppo di suore sono andate a <strong>Tala, Machakos<\/strong>, per aprire un\u2019altra comunit\u00e0. Per un anno e mezzo, hanno abitato in una casa che \u00e8 stata\u00a0data loro in prestito. Nel frattempo, la Congregazione ha comprato un terreno per costruire un convento e una scuola. Il 13 gennaio 2010, hanno iniziato la costruzione della scuola intitolata: <em>\u2018St Francis of Assisi School\u2019<\/em>. Il 29 Maggio dello stesso anno, \u00e8 stata benedetta la prima pietra. Le Sorelle hanno potuto trasferirsi nel nuovo convento, il 5 maggio 2001.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Il loro apostolato principale \u00e8 dedicato alla scuola d\u2019infanzia e primaria, ma sono anche coinvolte nel lavoro pastorale della loro Chiesa locale: visitano gli anziani e i malati; fanno apostolato con i giovani; si prendono cura del gruppo della Santa Infanzia; istruiscono i ministranti; insegnano il Catechismo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Il 5 dicembre 2014, le Sorelle, accogliendo l\u2019invito del Vescovo di <strong>Malindi<\/strong>, Mons. Emanuel Barbara, si sono recate nella sua Diocesi per prendersi cura del <em>Tabasamu Centre<\/em>. L\u2019apertura ufficiale e la benedizione del Centro \u00e8 stata fatta l\u20198 marzo 2015, dallo stesso Vescovo. Le Suore gestiscono la scuola primaria e anche un dispensario. Sono coinvolte nella pastorale della loro Parrocchia, <em>Marafa Parish<\/em>.
